Strategic Planning

A Note From MISD Superintendent Dr. David Vroonland:

Dr. David Vroonland“Future is Bright for Mesquite Independent School District”

Mesquite ISD initiated a Strategic Planning process in December 2015 to provide focus for the District’s efforts over the next five years and beyond.
The initial step began with a meeting of the Superintendent and the Board of Trustees. At this meeting, the Board developed the District’s Beliefs and Vision statements.

Next, a committee of 50 members consisting of community members and District staff developed a strategic plan structure built around:

  1. Teaching and Learning
  2. Early Literacy
  3. Human Resources
  4. Funding and Finance
  5. Facilities
  6. Community Engagement
  7. Communications

Within each of these main objectives, the committee established strategies to achieve the main objective goal.

The next step involved the appointment of Action Teams to create plans for each of the strategies. Community members, teachers, parents, and administrators worked together to create action plan recommendations for each strategy and to provide a proposed budget for the plans.

The MISD Strategic Plan was adopted by the MISD Board of Trustees in December 2016. The plan spans the years 2017-2021.

Thank you to the “Strategic 50” – what we call our Strategic Planning Committee. This group of educators, parents, students, and other representatives from our community and local businesses helped brainstorm and set the framework of our plan objectives and strategies. MISD’s new Five-Year Strategic Plan begins with this 2017-18 school year.
